40 Weeks!!!!!

August 6th 2013

How Far Along: 40 weeks!!!

Size of baby:  It's hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds (a small pumpkin) and is about 20 inches long.

My baby this week: His skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason your baby's noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary.

Sleep: Some nights I will sleep okay, despite having to get up several times...but most nights my sleep is crap!

Best Moment of the Week: Despite all the ups and downs, I have made it to my due date!

Movement: Poor little guy must be so cramped...but not cramped enough, as he is still in there!

Gender: BOY!!!!!!

Food cravings: Still wanting sushi!

What I Miss: A good night's sleep...yes I know I won't be getting that for a LONG time.

What I'm Looking Forward To:  Meeting my son!!!

Milestones: Reaching my due date!

Emotions: Super impatient, yet scared, anxious, and excited about the birth.

Symptoms: Same old, same old.
